Big Mean Nasty Juan.

Goal was to do the Utah county guys workout. 3 mile warm up. 3 miles at 5:30 pace. 8 miles at 6:00 pace, 3 miles at 5:30 pace. Then cool down. That was the goal...

It's been cool all week. Muggy but cooler. Today ways 76F on the way over just before 4a.m and 73F when we were finished. &MuggyAsHell

We met at the DC and warmed up the river trail to River Road and one more mile for three total.

First 3 mile tempo set was @ 5:28 avg. Logan took it out fast... too fast. I hit 5:23, 5:23, and like 5:34. Once back at the DC I thought about just bagging the rest of the day.

Next was the 7.3 mile tempo @ a 6:01 avg down into Bloomington and around that loop and back. We talked and decided to just to this loop and be a little shorter than the planned 8 miles. No biggie here. Felt pretty strong through this section. Thought maybe we were going a little faster than the times showed... but itiswhatitis

Once we got back to the DC I had to stop for a potty break. Dave said he was just gonna keep rolling right into the last 3 mile section. So Logan, Steve and I stopped. Once we got running again the legs didn't want to go fast anymore. So we just did 7 min pace. Logan turned around after only a mile or so. Steve and I took it back up to 3.5 miles out. I had two more potty stops and finally decided I'd try some more tempo on the way back.

Felt so worn down and done that my main goal was to do like ONE more mile at around 5:50 pace... maybe make it to River Road for 1.5 miles.

However we got going and the legs seemed to turn over. And Steven made a solid push that I had to match and I hit the first mile in 5:11. Steve started to fall off around that point and I wanted at least one more. So I kept it going down past the Dr's Free Clinic and ended with a 5:22 avg for that 2 mile section to close it. Should have just done one more... but I was over joyed to have gone faster than 6:00 pace for more than a mile.

Cooled off 1.5 miles back to the DC and really felt wasted. Worked has hard this morning as I have in any workout in a long long time. Three workouts this week. Muggy temps. 100 mile week... Glad it's done.

Nice workout and week. The 3/8/3 is a good combo.

Thanks. Yeah it's a good one. I'd like to actually do the full 4/8/3 when I grow up:).

Thanks Matt. Hope I can at least still see you after the first 5k;)
