Ran with the club. Steve couldn't make it so it was Dustin, and the Bull. We looped the black hill and ran through town. I felt good until the last 2 miles kind of cramped up. Tryed to push the last 7 miles or so. I have a lot to work on before I can run a competitive marathon. I wish there was another month before Boston...

I did a version of my big loop run. Switched some things up and made it an even 12 miles. It was an amazing day in STG. I left my house at 4:30 and it felt like it was 80. The first 3 miles are uphill and my calves were as tight as they have ever been. I thought about turning around but waited until I crested the hill to see if they felt better. They did and I was able to pick it up from there. Finished, and felt good other than my legs where hot trying to fall asleep.

Got up this morning and did a run. I have to go to SLC for a work meeting today and tomorrow so I'm not sure what kind of running I'm going to get in. I hope to get 4-5 more tonight, but I'll have to see what kind of time I'll have.

Didn't have any time so I'm glad I got some miles in this morning.

Got up at 5:30a.m. and ran from the Little America up past the Capitol building up into some residentual area and did a loop in there then turned around and found a road up this little canyon so I followed it up and took it to were a trail came back down. Then just ran back down through town to my suite at Little America.

I picked up some kind of cold in SLC so all day I thought there was no way I was going to run. However I went home from work early and slept for a couple hours and then made myself go out. It was horrible. But in the end I felt ok.

Ran out in the desert by my house. Its starting to feel like summer here. In a short time I'll have to start running later in the day because of the heat. I am putting some fake grass in my back yard and I got fryed this afternoon, so I'll be pink for the 10k in the morning.

Did the 10k and a little over a mile of warm up. I ran the race as good as I could have due to my situation. I had a bad sun burn on my back and was feeling wore out before I even started running. During the race I started out a little faster than I would have preferd. I never could find a smooth pace that would allow me to catch the leader. I ended up 2nd with a time of 37:50 slower than a couple weeks ago, but the course was harder too. About 3 miles of up hill, but the conditions today were very nice...good day to run, fun atmospher. Now I have to finish installing the fake grass in my back yard.

I did my new big loop run. I wanted to get one more longer run in before I started to taper off for Boston next Monday. The run felt so good I ran smooth and easy no problems at all. I hope that I'm finally starting to progress to the next level. I have decided to run the Boston marathon as a learning experience/training run. Everyone I talk to says this isn’t the course to go out and PR on. So I'm going to run hard but in more of a training/ learning educational mentality than a competitive “I’m not going to let him pass me” state of mind.

Did an easy 5 with the running club, Dustin, Bill) Steve is still trying to heal. We are all pumped for Boston. We tried to plan meeting points and times.

I am feeling really good. I'm getting skinny, maybe too skinny. After Boston I am going to work out a lifting program that I can incorporate into my workouts. I'd like to keep my upper body strong and tone, and not skin and bones.

Meet with the running club to do a interview with the local newspaper. Ran some laps before and after, and then after the interview Steve and I ran down to Dixie High School and ran two miles on the track. It was good to run with Steve again. He seemed to be feeling pretty good. Then we ran back up to the park. Five total miles for this day on my taper trail to Boston.

Ran the Boston today...What a race. I finished in the top 1200 and ran it in 3:00.48, I was really disappointed that I didn't cut one run it under 3hrs. I ran the first half nice and easy and ran a negitive split on the second half. But I waited too long to start pushing, I just needed one minute less. Oh well. This race was hard I decided I like the St.George better. Its been a good trip, and it was good to come out and run with the other members of our club. I finished as the 3rd person from southern Utah, and the 12th from Utah.

Boston to Washington D.C to SLC to St.George.

What a trip home I'm spent from this little 4 day blast of a vacation.

My body is still sore, not as bad as yeasterday but sore. I'm getting sick, runny nose, fever. I will have to take the day off. Would have liked to run as soon as possible after Boston, but need to let my body heal from the beating I gave it.

Nice easy Saturday morning run with the running club.

I decided I'd start doing some (2) a day workouts to help boost my mile per week. So I've picked a quick loop through the industrial park that I can run every morning. With a afternoon run this will help me pick it up.

Ran after work out 3.5 and back. I feel a little sore but almost better than I would guess I should considering one week ago I was in a wheelchair after Boston.

I did 3.5 in the morning.

Then after work I meet with the club and we ran over Formaster and backwards around our little bottom end loop. The loop is 8.7 so I did a little lap at the park after and it made it and even 9 on GE.

I'm feeling good. With the extra miles that I plan on running I just hope to stay free from injury. I try and run easy and uniform on my runs to prevent anything from happening.

If I can stay healthy and I can handle doing this many miles for the next few months I think I can really improve. For now I have decided to just take it one day, or one run at a time because it gets stressful looking at the big picture...all those miles, all those runs, speed work, new shoes, yada, yada yada

Morning Loop

After work I was goig to do my "big loop" but I remembered that I had my high school wrestling banquet tonigt at 6p.m. So I left work at 4 and went to the high school and changed. I ran from there over Formaster, then up around the mall, down through the Red Cliffs shopping center, over the freeway, down the Blv, and down 400 E back to the high school. It was right on 7 miles. It was a pretty good run and it left me with plenty of time to get things organized for the wrestlers.

I couldn't get up today so I had to do it all after work. Bad choice.

I worked late so by the time I went out it was 5:40p.m. which for me is late to begin a long run. It was really windy and if I could have gotten out of it-I would have.

I did my desert big loop run and the thing I've been living in fear of ever since the first day I ran out there happened today. I saw a snake. Holly crap I almost stepped on the stupid thing. I'm almost sure it was a rattler. I hate snakes with every fiber of my soul. I told my wife that I love running out on those trail, but the first time I saw a snake would be the last time I ran out there. So I've got to find some new running loops, or get a lot braver due to the situation.

The worst part about it is that the last two weeks the vegetation has grown up so high that its hard to see the trail and I'll be almost on top of one of the stupid things before ever seeing it. Bad, Bad news for me.

After that my heart rate went through the roof for the next 5 miles and I hardly would run because I was trying to slow down and watch for more. Then once I got out of enemy territory I was able to stride it out again.

Did my morning run.

I planned on doing a good afternoon workout but ended up going up to Cedar City and not getting home until late.

Ran with the club. Did a loop out in Ivans and Santa Clara. Pretty good run. Again I had planned to do another run this afternoon but did not have a free second until after 10p.m. and by then I was dead. My goal for the week was 64 and I feel just short. Two days in a row my days ran away from me, not allowing a afternoon run. The lesson here is that I am thankful I did the morning runs to at least get some miles in.
