One of the scariest runs of my life. I did the same loop as yesterday. Didn't leave the house until after Mik'L got home from the office and meetings at almost 6:30 p.m. There was a hefty storm rolling in but I didn't think much about it. By the time I got over to the end of B-hills and on the trail there was lighting striking everywhere. All sides of town and in town. Each strike seemed to get closer and closer and by the time I was on the trail up past the DC on the way back to River Road it was an all out down poor. For the last 5 miles of this run I honestly went into 5k race pace as fast as I could back home. The legs were flying and my heart was about to jump out of my chest. On top of it all my lungs were full of a ton of dust from the wood chips I'd been spreading around the yard the last two days. This was creating a BIG problem. I just couldn't get enough air in and the lungs felt "pinched" as I was coughing up junk.

Anyways I made it home and for the next 2 hours I was in kind of a hyperventilated, crazy mental state... all worked up about the run, storm, lighting. It was actually kind of scary and Mik'L wanted to take me to the ER on several occasions. But after a few hours I finally calmed down, caught my breath and was able to go to sleep at around 11 p.m.

I guess you had to be here but it was pretty intense for  a while.

Sounds pretty intense, glad everything is ok. I got worried a few months ago when Bill and I got caught in a pretty good lightning storm.

Holy Cow Clyde that does sound pretty scary! I'm glad that everything is okay and that you were able to recover alright, take it easy.

Next time don't try to be a lightning rod! Glad you made it home safely!
