Some easy miles this morning. Was going to go out from 7 more tonight but forgot about a meeting that went from 6-9 p.m. Should have gone out before we left because after we got home I was ready for bed.

With the legs being sore for a week after the marathon, you are probably not ready for 15 miles a day yet. Give yourself a couple of months of easier training to recover.

I'm going to run the Valley of Fire Marathon in Overton,NV. in the middle of November. So I need to kind of get things going asap.

I think I shall join you at the Valley of Fire. Looks like a Killer course. I will have to send my registration off today.

You are right Cldye my mile splits were on the slow side yesterday, but I was running up the big hill outside of La Verkin into the wind. I thought coming down I would be able to pick up the pace a little more, but I still was struggling. I haven't really given much thought to running valley of fire, I guess I should think about it. It might be good to just get some more experience with marathon racing. Did you see my post where my friend won the Denver Marathon in 2:28?

Clyde:

Never push your training outside of the natural limits imposed by your current condition for any reason. Running is not school, cramming does not work, it only gives injuries. If you want to run Valley of Fire, do it as a relaxing tempo run riding off your St. George condition. Better yet, pace Bill on the first half, then see if you can still win the race.
