Tempo Tuesday/ Workout with the Circle

I didn't want to do the same old tempo loop. Just sick of it more than anything. So I talked the guys into meeting at the DC and we did a 2x4 mile workout with 6 min jog in the middle.

Warmed for 4 miles out and back. Temps were ok. 70F. By the river it felt a little cooler. But I'd still like it much cooler when I try and run hard. The plan was to go clock wise from the DC up the river trail and around the mayors loop to the 4 mile mark. Then jog 3 min's out and 3 back. Then come back counter clock wise for the last 4 mile set.

I didn't reset my watch after the first set so I just have the avg for all 8 miles at 5:33 pace. Goal was to be about 5:30 pace. So a little slower and I'm fine with that. The bad thing was I just felt forced almost the entire workout. The 4th mile about killed me and I was soooo thankful for that 6 min jog to recover. Legs just cramped way too fast. But I knew I wasn't totally recovered from Saturday as the calves and quads are both still sore.

In the end I'm just glad I didn't bail early. Pushed through. It wasn't pretty. Nothing special. But for me most aren't.

145.5 lbs after run.

30.2 mile ride on the Venge this afternoon. Left a little after 2p.m and it was 100F and when I got back it was 103F. Not complaining. Just facts. Out through the fields to the big hill before Sand Hollow. Then back around the airport. Another pretty honest ride. I did take the last couple hills EZ in the small ring. But I was basically out of water and what I had left was boiling in my non-insulated clear (green house effect) bottles.

Decided to pass on another run this afternoon. Was short on time and just couldn't be bothered with it.

147 lbs post ride.

Solid workout. Way to push through. Still a really solid pace!!! Look'n good - for all the right reasons!

Workout looks familiar? I think I enjoy the breakup better then 8 miles straight. Looking good though man! Can't wait to catch up with you suckers down south!
