I couldn't get up today so I had to do it all after work. Bad choice.

I worked late so by the time I went out it was 5:40p.m. which for me is late to begin a long run. It was really windy and if I could have gotten out of it-I would have.

I did my desert big loop run and the thing I've been living in fear of ever since the first day I ran out there happened today. I saw a snake. Holly crap I almost stepped on the stupid thing. I'm almost sure it was a rattler. I hate snakes with every fiber of my soul. I told my wife that I love running out on those trail, but the first time I saw a snake would be the last time I ran out there. So I've got to find some new running loops, or get a lot braver due to the situation.

The worst part about it is that the last two weeks the vegetation has grown up so high that its hard to see the trail and I'll be almost on top of one of the stupid things before ever seeing it. Bad, Bad news for me.

After that my heart rate went through the roof for the next 5 miles and I hardly would run because I was trying to slow down and watch for more. Then once I got out of enemy territory I was able to stride it out again.

Dude I hear you on the snakes, also my biggest fear with running especially around here. It is hard because some of the best places and trails are right in the middle of snake country. I had to climb over quite a few rocks last night and I was almost certain I was going to stir up a whole family of snakes!
