No running today. We had our wrestling tournament here in STG. For the first time in my 6 years of coaching I got into it with an referee and he tossed me out. It was actually pretty fun. I told him I wasn't going anywhere and we argued for a while and then I just decided to go out for a while before I said some really nasty stuff. I came home and an hour later my wife called and said that I could come back as long as I stayed up in the head table. Anyways an interesting way to end a long weekend. I'm just so tired of all the bad calls they make and there is no accountability for them.

I guess that's one reason I really love running events. Because the kids and only the kids decide the outcome. Sure there are a few officials to make sure we follow the rules but there are no judgment calls that someone can screw up.

A kid I talk with said that he lost on a questionable type of call as well.

Just like you said, One reason I've always loved running - you and the clock. And as a coach, the same thing.

But they can still mess up the course or send you in the wrong direction!

Can't believe you got yourself thrown out! Way to do the blog proud.

Awesome! I didn't know you were a wrestling coach! What school?

Jon- this is my 6th (and most likely last) year as the assistant coach at Dixie HIgh.

Why the last? Too many annoying refs?

From Superfly on Tue, Dec 18, 2007 at 13:14:46

There's a lot of reasons. Mainly time. Annoying refs do make the decision a lot easier.
