I was pretty sore all day yesterday and woke up just as sore or worse. So I wasn't sure I was even going to go on a run. I decided to head out and if at any point it started to feel horrible I'd turn around or walk back. However it felt better running than it does walking around the house (which is the case most of the time with running soreness). So I did the Bloomington loop just smooth and easy. Tried to run with good form and land soft the whole time. No watch so I'm not sure how slow it was but it felt pretty slow.

3 mile warm up at 4:50 a.m

8 mile tinman tempo at 5:58 min mile avg

2 mile's nice and easy cooldown= priceless

I wasn't sure about this workout today because yesterday my legs were pretty sore and I was totally trashed. I figured I'd warm up with the guys and then kind of work into it and basically let them go off. We did the warm up and I felt ok. Then started the tempo and Dave and I eased into it chit chatting and hitting a 6:13 and 6:12 first couple miles. Logan was long gone. Then I stared to feel pretty good and started to work the pace down as we got across the river and up to the Costco road. Once on the road and trail I knew I needed a couple faster miles to get the avg back down and the legs responded nicely bringing me back up to only a second or so behind Logan by the bridge at River Road.

Overall a pretty good workout. We had some rain last night which dropped the temps about 10 degrees so that was the good. But it did make things kind of sticky this morning. But I'll take the sticky over the oven. Happy to have it in the bank.

6.5 miles tonight around the middle B-hills loop. It was 104F but there was a slight breeze and a cloud here and there so it wasn't too bad. That is until I got home and then I started to feel pretty dehydrated and overheated. Glad it's done and that I have lots of cold Gatorades in the icebox.

Hot and muggy. Logan and I did the Bloomington loop and around the mini Bloomington loop. We both were dragging it today and then we got dehydrated. The run pretty much sucked... I'm not even that happy to have it in the bank. Hope to recover for the rest of the week. Now we are headed off to go camping with the PV x-country team. Looking forward to the cooler weather even if it rains the whole time.

3 miles up at camp. We drove up today and got all settled in then did a short little run over by the lake. It's hard to breath at 8,000 ft above the sea.

12 miles this morning. We ran out from camp past the lake and over to a cool lookout point to the south. Ran with the boys until they turned back and then Dave and I added a few extra to hit 12. We both were grinning ear to ear because of the nice cool temps. It has kind of rained on and off so the air is moist, cool and smells great.

5 miles this evening up the Powell point road above camp. We just went out and back. The way up felt so sluggish and I wondered why I was doing this to myself. Maybe I should have just stayed at camp and got a good nap in with Mik'L, Myler and the doggies. But once we turned around I started to feel a little better. It was downhill now:)

11.5 miles this morning down the road to the paved road. We started with the boys and then after they turned back Dave and I ran down to the main road. On the way down we were hitting like 7:40 pace and I thought we would die coming back up. It's a constant climb with no breaks at all... but we ended up hitting sub 7:30 pace to negative spilt on the way back. It felt ok but still not getting enough oxygen to the brain. Had to extend a little to even it off at 11.5.

5 miles this afternoon. Mik'L and I drove from camp 10 miles up the Powell point road to have a lunch and check out the views. On the way up only 2 miles above camp we saw a bear standing in the middle of the road. Kind of cool and kind of eire at the same time. The views from the top were amazing as you could see Escalante off in the background and even farther out you could see the Henry MTs and the East end of Boulder mountain. That part was fun because that is were we usually go camping. Then I got my golfing driver out and bombed about 10 older balls off the rim. It was fun watching them fly FOREVER.

I finally ran the remaining 5 miles back to camp while Mik'L drove the truck a long side of me. We were kind of still spooked from the bear and I had to run right by where we saw it.

Dave, James and I drove out 9 miles from camp out past the lake and then down off a ridge back to the west. Then once we got out there we ran back to camp and picked up the high school kids and then they ran back to the vehicle with us. The first 3 miles or so sucked and I couldn't get the air I needed but then I started to feel very good and tried to kind of do a mini tempo back up to camp. I wanted to get back before 7:30 a.m when the team would leave and start running to us. I almost made it and saw them just below camp at the first cattle guard. Then I got a drink and stretched while Dave and James came in. On the way back I wanted to continue the tempo back to the suburban... Dave and I slowly worked into some faster miles but then with about 4 miles to go we started to worry about what direction some of the kids had gone and at the same time our legs started to go. Needless to say we ran back at around 7:20 pace when I'd planned on doing it at sub 6 min. You just can't overlook altitude.

We had a fun time up at camp. Mik'L and I camped off in our own little camp and for the most part did our own thing. But I did have the pleasure of running with the team once or twice a day and also doing a couple little presentations to them. Good times and sad to be back home.
