11.2 mile run this morning. This turned out to be one that I will not soon forget. When I left the house the skies looked stormy but nothing was really happening so I went over into GS and then over to the Millcreek trail that we ran down the other night on the club run and then across the powerline and down around Middleton to the house. It was basically a very light drizzle up to about the top of the Millcreek trail. Then for about the 3 or so miles down the powerline it turned into a heavy rain and I was now soaked. This was all still just another day out on the trail but when I hit the trail that starts back to Middleton things just got "Buck Wild". The wild really picked up and so did a snow/ hail mixture that was coming in the direction of my eyeballs. I had shorts on and my legs just suffered a fierce beating and for the next two miles I just tried to stay alive basically running in a white out. When I got home I was just as soaked as if I'd just jumped in a pool and all the skin on my body that was exposed to the elements was bright red and starting to swell. Anyways I lived but it really sucked and that 11 miles or so felt like 20. I may do a short run this afternoon on the TREADMILL because I'm not going back outside today- Thank You very much.

4 easy miles while rocking out in the garage on the treadmill. Ironically I was listening to Bob Dylen's "shelter from the storm".

That's rugged.

In a similar experience, my third day here in Texas I thought it was supposed to be warmer, but instead it was in the mid-30s. All I had on was a thin long-sleeved shirt.

Nothing to do but press on. When I got back to the hotel my face was frozen and I couldn't move my arms very well.

They aren't fun days- can't blame you for an afternoon treadmill run.

Jun- Your right in that situation the only thing you can do is just keep going. Because if I would have stopped out there in the hills above my house I'd just have gotten colder and even more soaked.

Jon- I didn't love todays run! I feel bad for you guys you have moths of hard weather. We do have bad heat in the summer for 3 moths but if you get up early enough you can get through it... in the mornings- there is no good answer for the afternoon/evening runs.

I actually like running in blizzards. I'm weird like that. I figure you can always bundle warmer, but you can't do much if it is too hot, other than drink a lot.

Don't feel bad for laughing at me. It was probably a pretty funny sight! Anyways, I think 2:35 is out of reach for me, but low 2:40s are a possibility. It all depends on my level of training the next 2 months and the weather I guess. And I will be down for some more runs. I would like to hit 1 or 2 more 20 milers with you guys before Boston.

Hi Clyde,

Sorry it takes me forever to reply, I am a horrible blogger. I'm usually one of Sasha's "lost sheep". Anyhow, the running is going well. I was going to do Boston but I didn't get in. I'm getting to work out with the BYU team which is really making me work hard, so I think I will try to do some track races in the spring. I am going to do the Ogden Marathon, my family is running in it. I would also like to find a fast, flat sea level marathon to do and then do St. George again in the fall. I heard that you and a few guys are going to do an ultra. Let me know how it goes. I would like to know if you think it helps or hinders your marathoning. My sister trained and did a 50 miler and then a couple months later ran a five minute p.r. on St. George (she had run St. George many times before). Anyhow, I hope trainging is going well for you too.
