After golfing 18 this morning and messing around I wasn't really up for a run but I had a goal this week to at least get out everyday Mon-Sat. So I went up Sand Creek on the dirt road and then looped cross country style down a wash and into Rainbow Estates then back home. It ended up being a really enjoyable run. I loved being out in the hills above Torrey. It is absolutely beautiful up there and the temp was just around 80 so pretty great compared to STG stuff.

Happy with getting out everyday and hope to do the same next week. Kind of feeling good about the direction of my fitness and training.

Met up at my house with Mike and Paul (Paul from my neighborhood and who needs to join the blog). Anyways we did a portion of the Sunriver loop we did a couple weeks ago. We just took it easy and chit chatted the whole run but I still ended with a 7:30 avg so not too bad. I had the usual Monday morning issues and had to do a potty stop but other than that felt really good. We ran into Logan and his team and it was fun to see that cat out running again.

Headed out to do the Flying J loop and about 3 miles into it I ran into Ruth. So I joined her and extended my loop down into Bloomington and back up the trail into BH then back home. I was kind of slow to get going and it was nice to run into her to help keep the pace honest. By the time I got home I felt really dehydrated and checked my weight... 154. Thats pretty low for me now-a-days. Even when I'm in really good marathon shape I like to be 152 the morning before a big race. So not too far off in a roundabout way. I still need to do a lot more core work and then someday slowly start to work some faster miles into my diet. But not just yet. I've been working with a new foam roller and so far the hammy is feeling no pain... I won't say good because I still feel like if I started to hammer my training that it could hurt again, but for now it's good enough to keep slowly increasing the miles.

4 quick miles on the treadmill. Slept in and it was too hot to go out. I'll catch a few more this evening with my uncle.

Did a run this evening with my uncle Don. He's just getting into it and wanted to go out and ask some questions and have me see how he was doing. So we ran over to the Knolls park and then did laps. First mile was in 8:40 and he normally only runs 10 min pace so we kind of got him out too fast. Once at the park I put on the 5 fingers and ran in them the rest of the time and back to the house. It was a nice run and a good way to end the day.

Club run tonight. It was around five to ten degrees cooler this evening than the norm and that was grand. We did some trail over behind Mesa Shadows that goes by the river and then back around to the Dam road. I liked the run! Pace was slow and that was good too. Steve's shorts were really short and he didn't have a shirt on either... that part wasn't so good.

It was nice and cool or cooler this morning. I didn't go out until about 7:30 and the air still felt great. Smile! I ran the Stone Cliff loop and finished through Bloomington Hills. I tried to just relax and run efficient, smooth and with very low impact. So the effort felt like I would have been going slow but usually when I run this way my times are faster.... today was no different. I finished with just over a 7 min avg for the run. Not like it was tempo pace or anything but still a quick clip for a casual training run. Feeling good so far this week and hope to find time tomorrow for a longer run.

Really good 18 mile run this morning. Out into the fields to the bridge then over to the Costco road down to the river trail and to the DC. Then around Flying J and back around the Knolls to the house. Basically a net flat course. There is a really good hill you climb by Flying J and some 1% downhill but it is really close to as flat as it gets in STG. I hit the first mile in like 8:20 and then cruised around 7:15 pace for a while hitting the first 8 miles in around 58 mins. Then on the last 10 I dropped the pace to around 6:30 to hit an avg of 7:00 min pace straight up for the run. It felt good to hit somewhat of a real workout. In the end I had plenty left in the tank and was feeling good. Other than the hammy was a touch sore but nothing like it was a few months ago.

After I got home I ran back over to the park and back pushing Myler for a cool down. It was our Stake 5k race and I wanted to go over and see everyone start. I had no intentions of running it although about 10 people tried to get me to do it. Now to relax and enjoy this cooler weather it was really nice out this morning.

Did the Stone Cliff loop but extended down to the DC and around Flying J and the Knolls. Avg pace for the run was 7:11. I had a new pair of shoes and they really felt good so that was the good news... the bad news was that the hammy was a little achy. So I guess I'm not totally out of the woods with that- I never thought I was but kind of hoped or dreamed I'd be...  Hope to get a good week in even though there is much planned.

Wow I burned some calories this morning. Up at 4:30 to go out and ride Goosberry Mesa on the mt. bike. No one brought a garmin so distance wasn't measured but we did a solid 2 hours of riding before having to get home. Then once I got home I went out for a run at around 9:40 a.m and it was hotter than I like it. The worst part however was I was dead... legs were spent and I was so hungry becasuse I hadn't refueled from the ride. I actually thought about eating a trail nut bar that was ran over off the side of the road... but I didn't have anything to wash it down with. Anyways a good morning all done by 10:30.

Run was in 59:30

Bike ride was in 2 hours.... count as 4 miles... 1 mile per half hour.

A Bigish workout... well I guess this is the biggest workout I've had for months. We met up at 4 a.m at Mike's to run up Snow Canyon and back down the course and aroundto his house. It was 8.4 up to the top and that is a very good, steep climb. Then I did 8 miles of tempo down to the bottom and around the parkway. Then 1.7 miles of cool down back. It was a nice morning but still pretty toasty as we made our way up the climb. I saw around 15 falling stars in the dark sky and that was cool. At the top I took a GU and started the tempo to see how my body would hold up. Hit the first mile in 5:47 with Steve right there at my side then I stopped looking at the garmin and just focused on smooth form. Steve dropped and I ran on down hitting the 8 miles down past Paradise Canyon at an avg of 5:44 min mile pace. Not great by any means considering last year I did basically the same loop and hit the fast miles at an avg of 5:10-5:15 pace. But on the flipside I haven't ran anything fast for months now and it was good to see I could still hold something together. In the end I still felt good and was running just as strong as when I started. So we'll see where I can get back too in the months to come.

Good workout and glad to have gotten out and push things a little. Thanks Mike for putting the run together and for all your work in getting water drops out all over the place.

Club run tonight. We did the same loop around the hill over by the river and came out Washington Dam road. My quads were pretty trashed from yesterday. I haven't done any downhill all year and then did that workout on the course yesterday and BANG today there was a price to pay. So the nice slow pace the first 5 miles or so was nice. Then Steven was feeling frisky and picked up the pace. My ego wouldn't let me let him go so I went along for the ride. Anyways in the end the legs felt o.k but I was hot and thirsty.

Did the fields loop. I was really dragging it around for the first 3 or so until I was warmed up. Then things felt a little smoother. The hammy kind of hurt on the 8th mile but in the end wasn't bothering me. Gonna go play golf in Cedar today if all goes as planned.

Started out running over to the Knolls park this morning from the house and took the long way but that was still only 1.3 miles. Then watched the cross country races and ran around .5 back and forth around the course watching the races and stuff. That was a lot of fun. Dave and Logan have a cool course over there and it makes for a fun meet.

Then after things were over I went out up the airport road and looped around the fields back home. It was hot by now and the last three miles or so kind of sucked.

Did the same loop as last Saturday. Up to the new airport and around the fields but minus the little section around the park. It felt nice and cool out. I think the days are still getting really hot but the nights are finally starting to cool.

The hammy was sore all weekend and this morning it was a little achy. Nothing really bad but still something that would tamper with pace in a race. I'll have to work on it all week with the foam roller.

Looped the Knolls and Bloomington Hills then back around the long way through Jedora. I'm loving the cooler temps in the mornings. Pace was slow but I just tried to focus on smooth form and not worry too much about the achy hammy. I'll catch another 5 or so this evening out in Hurricane with my uncle.

5.1 more miles tonight in Hurricane with my uncle in my five fingers.

Met Logan and Paul H. at my house at 5:30 to do a run. The plan was to do 15 out around the fields down the river trail to the DC and back around to the house. I kind of miscalculated and took a wrong turn and it made the run longer than we planned. We needed to turn after the bridge at the DC but instead went around Flying J. This was fine other than Logan needed to be back in a shorter time so we had to lay down some unplanned tinman tempo. I had stopped to hit a potty break at the DC so I ended up with just about 6 miles at sub 6:30 pace with 5:44 being the fastest mile. It was a good run but I wish I would have had the guys turn at the right place so we didn't have to stress and push it as much. But it's always good to get the legs going...

Pushed Myler in the baby jogger this  morning. We went around the Knolls and Bloomington Hills over to River Road and back home. This is a good basic loop that when in need I could just go hit without thinking. I had a 5 mile loop at the old house up around the church and loved that I didn't need to think at all to just go run it. I know this may sound pathetic but some of you may understand.

Pace was nice and easy as I pushed the little guy this morning. He did really good until about 3.5 into the run and then I could tell he was doing his stinky business and from then on he was wiggly and fussy.  Avg pace per mile was 7:53 for the run. I'll try and get to running club tonight.

8.25 mile club run tonight. It was really hot and dry out plus I felt like the tar stuck on my shoe so the run was just blah. By the time I got back to the store my mouth was so dry and I just felt drained. A good drink and nights rest will feel nice.

Avg pace 7:34

Looped the Knolls, Flying J and B-Hills this morning. I felt like crap again so I'm glad I don't have another run planned today. My body is just getting use to more miles again- plus the heat the last couple days has drained me.

If I'm lucky I'll haul some manure and dirt today for my garden site... I'm actually really pumped for it. I've been told by the local growers that I have enough time to plant things like corn, peas, squash and the like before it gets cold. So a nice fall garden is in the works.

Was going to meet up at my house with a few guys but only Steve Abraham Lincoln Hooper Pope Abercrombie and Fitch showed up. So the two of us stared out through the Knolls and out past Blue Bunny to do the Sunriver loop.  I could tell from the git go that I was going to struggle. I just taxed myself out yesterday in the heat and wasn't recovered. On top of that it was hot this morning at 5 a.m. While we were running out there was a breeze in our face and it felt like a blow dryer. Oh this run just kind of sucked. By the time we got to the gas station (12.5) miles I wanted to be done. But w got some good cold water and that helped lift the spirits. We made our way through B-Hills and back around the Knolls. Then Steven split from me to go find his wife (who was out on her own long run). So I jogged the last mile or so in alone.

Did the 9 mile fields loop. I had a limited amount of time this morning so the run had to be a little shorter and kind of local so I could be home fast if needed. I warmed up slow for the first 4 miles or so then settled into a more brisk 6:50 pace for a couple and then hit a couple more miles at 5:40 ish pace to help open up the airways and get the blood flowing. I felt good as the pace dropped and was really in control of my form. However I may have looked bad from a spectators point of view. I had spit and it didn't make it all the way out of my mouth so for a mile or so I kind of looked like I was foaming at the mouth. During this part I passed this poor guy who was doing around 8 min pace and he must have thought I was some kind of a freak.... Good times. The weather was nice with temps right around 64 when I got home so just about perfect actually.

Did one basic B-hills loop clockwise and then came home and got Myler in the baby jogger and did another loop counter clockwise. Nice temps this morning. The run was good as I pushed it a little on the first loop to get home in time for Mik'L then on the second loop with Myler we just took our time and hit around a 7:50 avg pace. He really enjoyed it as he fell asleep and is still asleep even after I've been home long enough to shower and bath the dogs.

The plan was to go out with Logan, Bill, Paul, and maybe Steve Abraham Lincoln Hooper Pope Abercrombie and Fitch. But only Paul showed and as we were leaving Bill joined us for the first 3 miles as he only had time for 6.

Anyways we basically did the same loop as last week other than we cut over at the bridge by B-Hills. It ended up being almost the same distance as going around Flying J. We actually hit the same with the short out and back to come get Bill. Very interesting that there is only around .6 difference in length over the two.

The run was good as I was feeling a lot better overall than I was the last few days of last week. We didn't stress for pace as we just chit chatted the whole run but ended up with a 7:06 avg. Good start to the day... now for my daddy duties.

Logan met up with me at the house and we did basically the same loop as I ran yesterday. Other than at River Road we crossed over to the other trail that runs into B-Hills and then back over past the golf course to the house. A great relaxing run and a conversational 7:23 pace. Down by the river the temps were great as we would run into little cool pockets and it felt great.

Did a fields loop this morning with Mik'L who was on the bike pulling the bike trailer with Myler inside. It was slow going at times but we still hit the 9.25 miles in 1:12 so not too slow. Mik'L had already gone to this workout class beforehand and was struggling but she's a trooper and pulled it together to finish the loop. I just love the temps until around 9:30-10:00. It's so calm, and crisp out but then it gets hot as .....

Nice morning run on the course with some of the club guys and Paul... who can be a club guy too.  We met at 4:40 which means I needed to be up at 4:00 to be ready and over there on time. Others didn't show on time so we got to the top a little behind schedule and had to jump right into faster miles to help Logan get back on time.

We got a really good workout in and I was excited to feel good and see how well Paul ran. I hit the 16 miles down the course in 1:40:30 at an avg of 6:17 min miles. Nothing too mind blowing but a good solid workout. I feel like I'm only a couple months away from being able to really start training again... if things continue to progress. Logan came in shortly after and Paul wasn't too far behind him. After Logan left we did a little cool down up around the golf course to help prevent soreness.

A nice morning overall and the thought of fall makes me happy!

Around the Knolls and down into Bloomington to the river trail. Then back around B-hills to river road and home. I just tried to keep things easy this morning. No pushing it, no trying to get into a good groove which equals pushing it. My legs were kind of sore and trashed from last Saturdays workout so I needed to kind of run it all out of them this morning. Anyways kept it simple and hit a avg of 7:23 min mile pace.
