Good run this morning at 5 a.m. Went up to new overpass and then down through Washington and back home (9 miles). This town is a lot better place to be when the sun is asleep. I may have to start using my treadmill in the afternoons... it's just too hot to run and if you do go out it just zaps your energy for then next three days. We'll see what happens this eveing?

This evening I wanted to stay in and run on the treadmill... I should have! My wife wanted to go over to her parents house and have dinner so I warmed up on the treadmill for two miles then ran down past Costco and over to the in-laws. It's only about 6.4 miles down that way but it was over 104 degrees. This time I took water with me in a hydration pack, but it didn't seem to help. It was still just too hot. When I got to the house again like Monday it took me over a half hour to cool down and not feel sick.

So again I've got to play with ways to get in miles on my p.m. run until it cools of around here.

I hear you on the heat. I struggle the next day if I run in the afternoon heat, some how I need to get my schedule figured out to wake-up and run when it is cool.

From James in Sunny AZ on Tue, Jun 26, 2007 at 13:53:35

Whenever I run in the evening, I usually have to wait until about 8:30, and it is still hot out here, but between 90-95, which is better than over 100. When I get to the point I am doing two-a-days, I may have to use our treadmill in the afternoon/evening as well - not sure what I am going to do yet.

Good luck with the upcoming heat. I like Logan because it is usually quite nice at 6 am. My hat is off to you and the other guys that have to run in the heat all of the time, because it does zap you.

Did you stick around for the awards instead of Paul?

From Jon on Tue, Jun 26, 2007 at 19:18:41

Yeah, I forgot about the first aid kit. I think James is doing Des News, so if you send everything up with Steve, he can get them to us.

What batons did we win?

From Superfly on Tue, Jun 26, 2007 at 23:21:57

Yeah I stuck around and got the awards. We won the better than forth baton.

From Jon on Wed, Jun 27, 2007 at 09:34:11

YOu have to admit that they are creative with the award names.

Good luck with the heat during your training. While you have the heat to deal with this time of year, I have to deal with the winters here in SE Idaho where we have to bundle up in lots of layers. Probably a little better than the heat, except for the times when I have got home from a run and it took forever for me to feel my hands/ears/face/toes again after warming up. That is when I do lots of treadmill training!

From Wildbull on Wed, Jun 27, 2007 at 10:28:00

yes that heat can take the curls right out of your hair!! (Treadmill) use that $2000 treadmill.
