15 mile morning run. My wife and some of the other running girls were doing a 10 miler down the marathon course this morning so I decided to catch a free ride up and then just run home. Just wanted to run it nice and easy and get things going on a Monday morning. Ended up being right at 6:31 min/mile pace for the run. Felt pretty good with little to no effects from the hard run on Saturday-other than the regular Monday stuff (just a little fat, stiff, and sleepy).

I'm still pretty jazzed about my run on Saturday. It wasn't a race but could have been one of my best running performances ever. Hopefully I'm not peaking too soon and will be able to continue to get faster until STGM. If that is the case there could be some good things to come?

7 mile run this evening.

106 degrees when I leave + 101 degrees when I get home= A crap-O-la run. I think I cursed myself by saying that the weather was feeling cooler. It was...then it's hot again.

The run was just so, so.

Peak is 50% mental, 50% taper. Since you are not dropping your mileage and you have your eyes fixed on October, I seriously doubt you are peaking too soon.

From wildbull on Mon, Aug 13, 2007 at 16:37:13

I think your high miles are paying off. Your not peaking! Your getting better (Stronger) and running more efficient. Yoy really rocked saturday going down from snow canyon. I was a little worried about you when i turned around.

Now when in Oct. is the marathon? I would love to come down and cheer you on! I guess that Jordan is getting married that month and we are going to Hawaii the last week?( I think) I hope we won't have to miss any of that!

From Lybi on Tue, Aug 14, 2007 at 02:50:00

Hey Michelle--if you're going down to see the SGM I can meet you! It's Oct. 6th, isn't it? I'll be there to support dh James. Maybe we could even go for a run together!

By the way, Clyde, I am half convinced that you put pictures of random guys from running magazines on your blog, because every one I've seen looks like a completely different guy to me. :)

From Superfly on Tue, Aug 14, 2007 at 09:33:51

Michelle- Yes the marathon is on Oct 6, (Mik'L's Birthday). I think Jordan is getting married the weekend after, and you guys are taking us to Hawaii the week after that so it looks like it will all work out great for everyone...

Lybi-Sorry to let you down, but the pictures have all been me. BTW my wife hates the picture I have up right now.

From Mik'L on Wed, Aug 15, 2007 at 11:23:20

Hawaii sounds good to me!

It's true Lybi, they are all him and I don't like the one that is up right now. Clyde goes through a lot of hair changes (long, short, curly, etc) so I guess he could look different to someone that doesn't know him. Kinda funny.

From Superfly on Wed, Aug 15, 2007 at 11:30:35

Actually I've been on the cover of so many running magazines lately that it may seem hard to keep me straight from other high profile American distance runners. We all kind of look alike, and different in our own ways.

From Michelle on Wed, Aug 15, 2007 at 11:36:35

I will put that on my calendar! Maybe Mik'l, Lybi and anyone else who would like to join us could go for a little run and then hang out for the marathon! Sounds like a party! And then anyone who wants to join us for the trip to hawaii is totally welcome the more the merrier definately applies there! I'm sure I'll be coming down without Ted he already is completely making a sacrifice to give me UEA weekend in Hawaii, and I don't think he has put 2 and 2 together to realize Jordans wedding will require missing another weekend hunting! I am just glad that we already have out tickets!

From Mik'L on Wed, Aug 15, 2007 at 11:38:18

You know if Ted has to sacrifice to go to Hawaii, I could always take his spot! haha...who can say going to Hawaii is a sacrifice!

I am definitely down for a run around the marathon!

From Jon on Wed, Aug 15, 2007 at 13:27:00

Clyde- were you the one in the sports bra on the cover of Running Times? I thought I recognized you...

:) (just kidding)

From Lybi on Wed, Aug 15, 2007 at 17:36:12

Michelle--That would be great! We have to go for a run AND hang out during the marathon. I wanna make a big sign that says "GO FAST RUNNING BLOGGERS!"

Clyde, Mik'l and Jon: People always write lol on their posts, but this is the first time I have actually laughed out loud reading this blog--oh wait, there was that one time Sasha was describing Russian outhouses...

Jon, you are a very fast guy in serious need of an eye exam.

From Michelle on Thu, Aug 16, 2007 at 12:31:07

Hey Clyde thanks for letting us use your site! Great exchange of info and good for a few laughs too! As for the ipod music, sorry can't say that I even know who any of that is. So since I already have a bunch of 80's stuff on, I'll probably have to go rummage through the girls country stuff! (I know, I know...)

Lybi,

I have to agree with you that is justifying of LOL! And I like your Idea of run and sign! I'll be looking forward to it!
