Out to Flying J and back up the DC trail to River Road and on in to the house.  Total time was 1:14:38 for the run. Just took it smooth and tried to hold proper form though out the run. I need to get back into my core workouts as they seem to do wonders for running. Hammy was a touch sore but only the last mile or so.

Ran up to the back side of Stone Cliff and took a dirt road up that and then down through the houses to the main road and was about to Summit when I ran into Steven. So I talked him into coming with me back down around the DC and back home. Then I just gave him a ride home. The run was good and it was nice to have him for the last 6.7 or so.

Did a 4.3 mile warm- up over to the start through the Knolls and Bloomington Hills.

This is kind of funny actually. My first race since the St. George Marathon last October. Going into it I had no real intentions of "racing". I was going to push Myler in the baby jogger and just enjoy the run. That's why I ate pizza and soda all day beforehand and played two softball games at 7 and 8 p.m before the race. But Mik'L asked me at the start if I wanted her mom to push Myler and I decided to see what would happen if I tried to push the pace a little.

1. 5:15- Hit the first mile way faster than I even thought possible. The kid who won must have did the first mile 20 seconds faster because he went out way fast and had a good distance between us.

2. 5:30- I reel him in almost all the way and am licking my chops just waiting for the last mile so I can eat him up.

3. 5:45- My last mile heroics turned into real pain. I had a massive side ache and was going to barf at any second. So after only being a step back from the leader I had to just try and live to the finish. The side ache was bad and still hurt (this morning on my run- a day later).

some more painful seconds to finish off the 5k.

I was really naughty and only did .5 of cool down. After a race like this I should have done more.

Kind of a fun little evening. Not too bad considering I ran it last year in 16:00 (we did let up on the last mile last year but still) I was actually really surprised to see that I could even run that fast (not like it was good or anything).  But my training has been.... not for lack of a better word for the last 6 months. Anyways it was fun to feel the burn once more and also good to see so many people out to support their family at 11 p.m.

I had a bad side ache all run just like last night in the race. So pace was slow going. But I really wasn't too sore in the leg department. Glad to have got a run in as I now have a in-ground trampoline project to deal with and a couple softball games this evening.

Went over to the Knolls park and met up with Dave and his team. We did the cross country course out there and then I ran back home. I felt like crap. Just been working too much in the sun and then the softball two nights in a row kind of left the body aching all over. Anyways it was fun to see Dave for the first time in months and to see the sweet grass course they are putting together. I've been busy installing an in-ground trampoline with a cool pipe coming out the bottom that kids can slide down. It will all be way cool when it's done but work is slow in the heat.

Didn't run today because we played in the stake golf tourney. It was a blast but a little hot at the end. We finished at 2 under par as a team.
